Founded in 2003, Bent Frequency brings the avant-garde to life in Atlanta through adventurous programming, the promotion of New Music, and a creative synthesis of music and media. Hailed as “one of the brightest new music ensembles on the scene today” by Gramophone magazine, Bent Frequency engages an eclectic mix of the most adventurous and impassioned players in Atlanta. Bent Frequency presents innovative programs of cutting edge works and re-contextualizes classic works of the twentieth-century using multi-media and often combining music with visual art and dance. Bent Frequency is an ensemble in residence at Georgia State University.
Bent Frequency, in partnership with the Rialto Center for the Arts, the GSU College of the Arts, the Center for Collaborative & International Arts, and School of Music, will present A Residency with Composer John Luther Adams April 7-9, 2017. Bent Frequency is bringing internationally renowned, Pulitzer Prize winning composer John Luther Adams to Atlanta for three days of concerts of his music. This residency will coincide with SoundNOW 2017.
The John Luther Adams Residency will culminate with a retrospective concert given by Bent Frequency on Sunday, 4/9 at 3:00 pm in the Rialto Center for the Arts. This concert will feature many of his solo and chamber works performed by Bent Frequency and will also include a pre-concert talk given by John Luther Adams in the Rialto Lobby. This chamber concert will feature the following works (among others): Strange Birds Passing (1983), Red Arc/Blue Veil (2002), Make Prayers to the Raven (1996) and Qilyaun (1998).
